Bank Holiday Weekend Part 2!

More Pics, sorry!

So as we had the Monday off ( woohoo!) Me, Rich and Mum decided to make the most of it and have a day at the sea side, Lyme Regis in Dorset to be exact, we're only a couple of hours away in Bath so its ideal for a day out!

I totally LOVE Lyme, it feels like Bath only smaller and with a beach! We had a little walk along the sea front, admiring the amazing beach huts as we went...

My favourite is this one, the colours are so seasidey, I love that its a bit flaky too!

We discovered that there was the tale end of the fossil festival going on, with people carving stone...

...and balancing stones (?) something I'd never heard of before, I later discovered it was this chap

Weird but quite cool too!

Rich and I both love this quote!

Lyme has one of the most wonderful garden shops I've ever been in, I wanted everything in there, if your ever on the South Coast go at take a look at Ginger Beer (thankfully they also have a website!)

After drooling at that for a bit we went for a walk along Monmouth Beach, this is the beach where you can see all the ammonites embedded in the rocks.

Its so insanely beautiful I couldn't stop taking pics, sorry lots of rocks coming up...

This is Mums dog Eddie, Richard wants it making very clear that he's is nothing to do with him!

Aren't those fossils amazing!

We even brought back a couple of little souvenirs (because I haven't got enough crap in the garden!)...

I'd love to say we found them but Mum brought them for me off a guy at the fossil festival for £1 each!

So another brilliant day and a very good weekend in all, marred only slightly by the fact that my Dad wasn't there, but I think we enjoyed it for him...

That sounds like a lovely day, I love those beach huts and visiting Lyme always makes me want to re-read "The French Lieutenant's Wife". Great fossils too!

Fennel is a great veg to grow, you cn cut the feathery tops off and use them as herbs or garnish, they have an aniseedy taste and go well with fish. If you let the bulbs swell up them just dig the whole thing up and chop it into pieces which can then be roasted. Very tasty with tomatoes. Make sure you keep them well watered during summer (I'm assuming it will be hot summer!)

“None of the other pictures wanted the job,” said Percy. “Fright¬ened of what happened to the Fat Lady. Sir Cadogan was the only one brave enough to volunteer.”
Sir Cadogan, however, was the least of Harry’s worries. He was now being closely watched. Teachers found excuses to walk along corridors with him, and Percy Weasley (acting, Harry suspected, on his mother’s orders) was tailing him everywhere like an ex¬tremely pompous guard dog. To cap it all, Professor McGonagall summoned Harry into her office, with such a somber expression on her face Harry thought someone must have died.

It's not just the colours, or the drawing in of the evenings, when you can close the curtains, shut out the world and snuggle down in front of the fire with a good book, or watching the telly with a bar of Green and Black's chocolate - one of the very small ones for me, thanks. Nor is it all down to spending time with gardening books, seed catalogues and Gardener's World magazine, looking at what to grow next year - and did you know Monty Don has just won a prestigious award for Columnist of the Year, something like that? So WELL DONE MONTY, and well-deserved too.

As he writes, the instructor "should remember that his business is not so much to teach [the child] all that is knowable, as to raise in him a love and esteem of knowledge; and to put him in the right way of knowing and improving himself."[34] But Locke does offer a few hints as to what he thinks a valuable curriculum might be. He deplores the long hours wasted on learning Latin and argues that children should first be taught to speak and write well in their native language
